Job summary

A community-focused social enterprise in Colchester is seeking a dedicated individual to support students, particularly those with disabilities, in developing core life skills. The role involves assisting with personal care, administering medication, and providing a safe environment. Key qualifications include knowledge of Buccal Midazolam, a full DBS check, and an NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent experience. An interest in cooking and domestic skills is essential, as well as a full UK driving licence.

Job Description

To support students and in particular a young person with epilepsy (knowledge and practise of Buccal Midazolam is essential) training will be offered for this role. Manual handling, core care training skills.

To support our client with the development of core life skills training and progression.

Interest in Cooking and teaching home economics required for this post.

To provide personal and physical care, if required, in line with risk assessments and with dignity and respect.

To assist in providing a safe and supportive environment.

To promote and maintain a good standard of care practise within the day opportunities centres.

A love of crafts will be desirable and to assist with therapeutic activities for clients on a day to day basis would be an advantage.

To assist in the daily preparation of day opportunities centres ensuring the premises are ready to receive clients safely and in comfort.

To undertake any projects or duties commensurate with the nature and grade of the post as required.

Additional Responsibilities
  • To adhere to all service standards, policies and procedures
  • To comply with data protection regulations, ensuring that information on clients remains confidential
  • To fully prepare for appraisal meetings
  • Full driving licence desirable.

Skills and Qualifications
  • A full enhanced DBS will be required for this post, Bright Lives CIC this is an essential requirement for working with vulnerable adults and the information shown on these is used to ascertain suitability for a particular role.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Care or 2 years’ experience in care, including personal care, and be willing to work towards this qualification
