Job summary

A dynamic family-owned business is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee operations in their UK facility. The ideal candidate will have a background in food manufacturing, strong people management skills, and a track record of achieving production targets. Qualifications

  • Ideally IOSH qualified or willing to attend training.
  • Ideally Level 3 Food Safety qualification or willing to attend training.
  • Proven track record in food manufacturing, preferably poultry/ meat processing.
  • Broad knowledge of GMP standards.
  • Experience operating to BRC standards.

Job Title: Production Supervisor (s)

Location: Preston, Lancashire, UK

Salary: Circa £35,000 pa dependent on experience

Job type: Full time, Permanent

2 shift rotation: Circa 6am till 4pm - 1pm till 11pm

Gafoor is a dynamic and rapidly growing family‑owned business in Preston looking for an experienced Production Supervisor with a background in FMCG /food manufacturing. Gafoor is a key player in their sector operating in a modern, BRC accredited facility supplying some of the biggest and most progressive names in the grocery, retail, and wholesale sector on a national basis. This role is not open to candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK and successful candidates will aim to commence employment in January 2026.

About the Role

Reporting to a Production Manager you will oversee a number of machine minders and line leaders working across specific areas and processes within the factory. The overall focus of the role will be to ensure the smooth running of the operation ensuring that production schedules are achieved to fulfil customer orders, on time and to the correct specification. As a people manager you will engage, manage, develop, train and lead your team to ensure good levels of engagement and staff retention. Thus, ensuring that the operation is efficient, safe and fully compliant with all GMP and food safety standards. You will be accustomed to working with and capturing data to measure your team's performance against KPI's and OEE targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for achieving production plans and leading a multi‑cultural team.
  • Have a "hands‑on" approach to all aspects of the department.
  • Able to lead by example.
  • Gather, analyse and present KPI data relating to your team's performance.
  • Develop internal relationships to inspire trust and confidence in the capabilities of your team.
  • Mentor and develop your line leaders and machine minders.
  • Manage day to day departmental people issues in relation to absence, holidays, performance and training.
  • Drive productivity and GMP standards throughout the operation.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by ensuring that all standards of the Health, Safety and hygiene are adhered to within the department.
  • Support the introduction of new products and changing specifications into the business in line with the customer requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Technical and Engineering departments.
About you
  • Ideally IOSH qualified or willing to attend training
  • Ideally Level 3 Food Safety qualification or willing to attend training
  • A can‑do attitude
  • Able to communicate professionally and effectively at all levels
  • Proven track record in food manufacturing, preferably poultry/ meat processing
  • Broad knowledge of GMP
  • Experience operating to BRC standards
  • A commercial outlook with excellent numerical capability
  • Proficient in all MS Office I.T packages
  • Good people management skills
  • Excellent Problem‑solving and decision‑making
