Production Apprentice – BBC Studios, Specialist Factual

BBC Studios is a leading global producer of factual content for the BBC and international broadcasters such as Sky and Channel 4, with recent titles including "Tucci in Italy", "Lucy Worsley Investigates" and "Renaissance: The Blood and the Beauty". We offer a 13‑month Level 3 production assistant apprenticeship to support the creation of high‑quality BBC content.

Key Responsibilities and Impact
  • Work alongside a highly creative production team to deliver BBC‑Studio content.
  • Conduct accurate research within editorial briefs, using a wide range of sources.
  • Set up and maintain information systems for production workflows.
  • Sourcing and clearing material for broadcast.
  • Coordinate with contributors, guests, experts and talent.
  • Work on location, in studios, and across BBC offices.
  • Follow best practices for health & safety, compliance, and sustainability.
Learning and Development
  • Attend learning blocks (up to a week at a time) with our learning provider, including both in‑person and virtual sessions.
  • Progress toward an industry‑recognised Level 3 production assistant qualification.
Skills and Eligibility
  • Passion for broadcasting and the media industry, especially within Specialist Factual.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Ability to gather and present information clearly.
  • Transferable strengths and a willingness to learn professionally.
  • Age: 18 + at the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Reside in the UK and legally eligible to work full‑time.
  • Not currently enrolled in another apprenticeship programme.
  • No prior learning required; however, applicants under 19 must have Maths and English GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) or achieve Functional Skills Level 2 before the end of the apprenticeship.
