Production Planning Manager
Location: Attleborough
Position Type: Full Time
Salary: £30,000‑£40,000 (Depending on proven experience)
Hours: 40 per week (Saturday working on rota basis)
Travel Required: Yes, as and when necessary
The Production Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing the production planning process to ensure efficiency, compliance, and consistent product quality. This role works closely with the Forecast & Packaging Manager and provides cover when required. You will also be part of the rotating Saturday cover schedule, working alongside the Shift Supervisor as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Manage daily and weekly production planning activities.
- Create and maintain production schedules aligned with customer demand and business objectives.
- Work closely with the Forecast & Packaging Manager to maximise optimal utilisation and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Liaise with Shift Supervisors to ensure effective communication between production, office‑based teams, and commercial functions.
Operational Efficiency & Resource Management
- Analyse production data to optimise resource allocation and identify potential production issues.
- Manage stock levels across both ungraded (UG) and finished goods (FG).
- Collaborate on transport planning to ensure sufficient incoming supply to support operational efficiency.
- Oversee Tosca/Chep ordering, tracking, and stock management, ensuring appropriate availability during key seasonal peaks.
Commercial & Customer Interaction
- Support trading activities with the Forecast & Packaging Manager to maximise returns on surplus product or cover shortfalls in availability.
- Act as a point of contact for key customer accounts where required.
- Manage ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) processes.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare and present production reports to senior management, ensuring visibility, accountability, and informed decision‑making.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and achieve performance targets.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and potential cost reductions.
- Communicate, escalates and resolve issues promptly to minimise operational disruption.
Skills & Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Operational Management or related field (preferred but not essential).
- Strong experience in production planning or a similar role.
- Proven experience in resource allocation and workforce planning.
