Production Operator - Taw Valley Creamery

Location: Devon, GB

Join our production team at Arla Foods Ingredients Taw Valley, and you'll contribute to making food that is loved by millions.

AFI Taw Valley produces 18000 tons of permeate powder and 4000 tons of whey protein concentrate using membrane, evaporator and spray drying technology. Our customers use the products as ingredients in foods, sports nutrition and dry blend products, and therefore we have high demands for quality and food safety.

The shift pattern will be 4 on 4 off, days and nights. Nights will be 1 in every 3 shifts.

As a multiskilled operator, you will become trained to run the process end to end and be able to cover each area of production.

Responsibilities

• Operate processing equipment to produce Whey protein concentrate and demineralized, dry blend, permeate powder.
• Loading finished product onto either tankers, or curtain side trailers using counterbalance fork lift truck.
• Ensure that department log sheets are filled out accurately and in full.
• Process SAP orders for finished product.
• Monitoring the process to ensure department KPI’s are achieved
• Work with engineers and other members of the team to reduce lost time due to breakdowns.
• Cleaning/housekeeping to maintain a hygienic and food safe environment, and to be audit ready at all times.
• Record & Report Process Deviations to the Production Team Leader.
• Maintain a safe working environment by raising near misses, risk observations, environmental observations and behavioural safety observations.
• Complete mandatory training modules.

Essential training

• Counterbalance Fork lift Truck (FLT) Licence
• SAP applications and label printing
• Batch data & best before date accuracy
• Process equipment – 25kg & 1 tonne bagging machines, membranes filtration, evaporator and spray dryer.
• Production log sheets. Microsoft Applications (Word & Excel).
• Food Safety and Quality (HACCP Level 1 minimum)

• First Aid
