On behalf of our client, F3 Metalworx, Inc., a leading sheet metal fabrication company based in Erie, PA, Decision Associates is seeking a skilled and experienced Production Manager – Powder Coating. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations that meet customer requirements, cost objectives, and delivery schedules.

The Production Manager will provide strong leadership to department staff, manage workflow, ensure compliance with industry standards, and drive continuous improvement in processes, quality, and safety.

The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of powder coating processes, proven leadership experience, especially during periods of transition, and the ability to leverage data and metrics for decision-making and strategic applications.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee all powder coating production operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and cost objectives
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize department workload to meet both customer and internal delivery requirements
  • Lead, train, and mentor team members to promote high performance, accountability, retention, and adherence to company standards
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations, including OSHA and industry-specific standards
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality assurance teams to resolve production challenges and enhance product quality
  • Analyze production data and metrics to identify inefficiencies, drive process improvements, and apply lean manufacturing practices
  • Manage inventory of powder, chemicals, tools, and supplies required for powder coating operations
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for all powder coating processes
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the powder coating department
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial management, business administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Minimum 5–10 years of progressive experience in powder coating or finishing operations, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead production teams effectively in a fast-paced and transitional environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of powder coating processes, including application techniques, curing ovens, and quality control procedures
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficient in analyzing production data and metrics to identify opportunities for process optimization
  • Familiarity with Nordson equipment and 5-stage washing systems is preferred
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP/MRP systems preferred
