NexGen Consultancy are currently recruiting for a well established, growing precision engineering company based in Wooburn Green. Due to growth and structure change, our client are looking for a Production Manager to join their current team.
Operational Roles and Responsibilities Defined
Answering to - Managing Director
The Production Manager role owns the process from the point that PO is received, Job Card raised and Contract Reviewed to Invoice including subcontracted processes
Technical
- Once CR is completed, carry out a technical review of the part to ensure there are no concerns
- Review the routing and adjust operations / sequence for best practice
- Manage programming load between 3 programmers on site where required, resolve issues. Review existing programs for improvement with team
- Team member when looking at any rejects when things don\'t go to plan for improvement
Operational
- Schedule parts using scheduling software to meet customer requirements
- Manage production to get best from plant but with repeatable quality parts
- Ensure Tricorn is updated with hours and accurate data at all times
- Manage accuracy of clocking in SFDC to get the Scheduler accurate and keep it there
- Manage labour, support, train and mentor to achieve consistent results with acceptable productivity levels
- Manage benching section using labour available
- Carry out GEMBA walks daily to set the plan and flow down requirements, listen to issues, resolve problems
- Ensure machines are maintained and look at strategies to stop breakdowns etc
- Questions jobs with run over on time and cost
- Replan jobs that need improvement taking cost out where possible, reduce operations /
- Improve finishes etc
- Operational ownership of inspection, work priorities etc (Compliance owned by QA)
Customer
- Provide delivery information directly or through intermediaries as they arise
- Update or provide information for customer progress requirements
Team Events
- Weekly Production meeting (chair)
- Monthly Management meeting, MD PM QM
Improvements
- Suggest strategies to improve processes for agreement
- Work with QM MD to continue improvement of business infrastructure
Training
- Training by you: Mentor staff to improve knowledge and skills
- Training to be provided for you: Tricorn (as required); Scheduler (as required)
