Overview

Position: Production Engineer - Precision Engineering
Location: Hailsham, East Sussex
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to oversee and improve manufacturing processes within a precision engineering environment. This is a leadership role, managing production teams and delivering high-quality products on time and to specification. You will have a strong background in CNC machining, UHV cleaning, assembly, quality control, and logistics, with a proven track record of managing people, optimising processes, and driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of production, including CNC machining, turning, milling, assembly, QC, and logistics
  • Manage Cell Leaders and production staff to achieve quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery targets
  • Work with Production Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, and Sales to align manufacturing with customer needs
  • Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes and controls
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date process documentation
  • Lead health & safety compliance within production areas
  • Evaluate resources, develop talent, and plan for succession to close skills gaps
About You
  • Essential:
    • Minimum 5 years' leadership/management experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in precision parts production, with hands-on knowledge of CNC machining and assembly
    • Strong understanding of ISO 9001, Lean principles, and continuous improvement tools
    • Engineering degree
  • Desirable:
    • Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing Tools experience
    • Cross-functional production planning experience
    • Knowledge of state-of-the-art manufacturing methods
