Production Engineer
Location: Rochdale
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £45,000 + Overtime + Excellent Benefits (including life insurance, health cover, and a competitive pension)
Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm & Friday: 7:45am – 3:15pm
Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus statutory holidays

About the Role

We’re delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our highly regarded engineering client in Rochdale for an experienced Production Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. You’ll play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring high-quality production standards.

Production Engineer Key Responsibilities
  • Utilise CAD software (SolidWorks) to support design and manufacturing activities.
  • Apply 4- and 5-axis machining techniques, including CNC lathe operations.
  • Execute manufacturing engineering tasks within agreed deadlines.
  • Create and maintain detailed process specifications, BOMs, routings, and production orders.
  • Support costings and production documentation within the ERP system (preferably SAP).
  • Provide technical support to optimise process capability, efficiency, and yield.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including Purchasing, Engineering, and Group teams.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all Health and Safety procedures and company policies.
Ideal Experience and Skills
  • Proven experience in a technical or engineering environment, ideally medium to heavy engineering.
  • Knowledge of hard surface welding methods.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Skilled in SolidWorks 3D modelling and project management.
  • Experience creating BOMs, routings, and costings for production.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles, waste reduction, and process improvement.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Production or Manufacturing Engineering role.
Education & Qualifications
  • Time-served apprenticeship or formal technical qualification in a machining-biased discipline.
  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
Personal Attributes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Clear and confident communicator at all levels.
