Job Profile

Education: Ideally educated to degree level with excellent literacy, numeracy and modern IT skills.

Education Grade: Degree level or equivalent in one of the following disciplines:

  • Marketing/Product Management
  • Business
  • Engineering/Medical Engineering
  • Finance

Work Experience: Experience in a role that involves a deep level of product management knowledge both functionally and technically. A good working knowledge of the practicalities of product management and an understanding of associated marketing activities. Experience within a clinical or rehab engineering type role or in an associated healthcare equipment environment is advantageous.

Linguistic Skills: English. Another European language desirable.

Computer Skills: Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office); Excel (high level desirable); Word, PowerPoint and Outlook or equivalent. Experience of technical IT applications is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of Oracle applications, such as QAD is desirable.

Special Expertise: An enthusiastic individual, hard working with a hands‑on approach and a technical and clinical appreciation of product working. Good business acumen, excellent written and verbal communication skills (presenting to audiences), excellent organisational skills, resourceful and proactive. Appetite to learn and understand product features and translate into relevant technical and marketing support activities. Existing technical appreciation of medical devices is desirable. The right candidate would be expected to complete formal product management and marketing qualifications such as Chartered Institute of Marketing programmes. The ideal individual will have an appetite for learning and progression within their career and the organisation.

Special Characteristics: Hands‑on attitude, technical/mechanical/ergonomic and clinical appreciation advantage. Ability to work unaided to objectives, multitask and prioritise workload, responsive to change, show innovation in implementing new ideas, excellent presentation skills, keen and enthusiastic, full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities
  • Task 1 – Product Management: Hands‑on support of products within the Medium Active and Specialist Seating categories, including action wheelchair range, seating, and positioning documentation creation and maintenance, prescription forms, pre‑ and post‑market surveillance, and monitoring of micro and macro environments to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Task 2 – Technical Support: Understand the technical workings of products in detail to impart that expertise to internal and external stakeholders/customers; create and implement technical resources; liaise with Invacare business units.
  • Task 3 – Marketing Support: Work closely with the Marketing Manager and Marketing Communications Manager to support all marketing and product related activities.
  • Task 4 – Clinical and Technical Knowledge: Through training, reading and research, fully understand the technical and clinical aspects of product features to exhibit and impart expertise and provide input to marketing activities.
  • Task 5 – Essential Travel: Independent UK travel and overnight stays for field visits, events and exhibitions; some EU travel may be required; hybrid role (office and home based).
