Job description
Design & Food Technology Teacher (Permanent, Term Time Only)

Location: Baston House School, Bromley, Kent BR2 7AB

Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday; Contract: Permanent; Term Time Only

We believe in better work/life balance and are part of a 4‑Day Working Week trial, working one day less each week (or an equivalent amount of hours), while still receiving full‑time pay.

As part of Baston House School's continued growth, we are seeking an experienced, creative Design & Food Technology Teacher to inspire pupils to explore creativity and develop practical skills. The role includes delivering exciting lessons that encourage pupils to experiment and discover new skills across a range of materials, CAD/CAM, graphics, textiles, electronics, photography, or animation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging lessons that support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Develop creative resources and activities tailored to pupils' needs.
  • Promote Baston House as a hub of creativity, professionalism, and care.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, sharing ideas and learning with the team.
  • Support a collaborative, inclusive school environment.
Qualifications and Personal Attributes
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working with autistic or SEN pupils (highly desirable).
  • Creative, adaptable, and enthusiastic about inspiring young people.
  • Collaborative, supportive, and committed to fostering an inclusive school environment.
  • Passionate about helping pupils achieve their full potential.
  • Strong understanding of the 4‑Day Working Week and time management.
