Overview

Joining an independent production and brand licensing company, which specialises in delivering high quality imaginative films and products for children and family audiences.

Known for their globally recognised feature films and animated specials including much-loved children’s characters, they have also produced several animated TV series that have gained huge popularity with younger audiences.

Their brand licensing programme has over 70 licensees globally, key and expanding categories include plush, puzzles and games, apparel, gifting and visitor attractions.

We now have an opportunity for a Product Development Assistant to join the team on a temporary fixed term contract, to support the product development team for 7 months starting in November 2025.

Responsibilities

So, what will you be doing?

As an integral part of the licensing team, you will report to the Acting Product Development Manager, and work closely with the Product Development Executive to assist with the delivery of the company’s consumer products programme.

The role will include tasks in the following areas: assisting the product development team with design and sample approvals; administrating the online approvals system; cataloguing final products and distributing contractual samples; assisting with the creation of brand presentations and creative resources. You will participate in regular team meetings and licensee and retailer meetings, both internally and externally.

Key role functions include:

  • Assist with the comments and approval of the company’s consumer products, from design stage to final sample.
  • Ensure licensed merchandise and packaging resonates with the brand values, and adheres to brand guidelines and style guides.
  • Administrate online approvals and asset management system.
  • Manage and administrate the distribution of contractual product samples to stakeholders.
  • Manage off-site product archiving system.
  • Manage office storage and displays of all merchandise products.
  • Maintain product development and launch tracker spreadsheets.
  • Maintain filing system for product photography and design assets as required.
  • Assist with creation of licensee and brand presentations.
  • Take part in competitor shopping and product research tasks as required.
  • Organise products for tradeshow and licensing event displays.
  • Submit products for licensing industry awards.
  • Track product reviews online and report back to the team.
  • Assist with general administrative duties as required.
Qualifications

What type of person are we looking for?

  • At least 12 months experience of working within brand licensing in a product development role, or a closely related role in marketing, retail buying or branding.
  • An understanding of brand licensing, and knowledge of licensing protocols and language helpful.
  • Genuine passion and knowledge of kids’ brands and character/IP in the UK and internationally.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills, confident delivering presentations
  • Knowledge of market trends in licensing, the competitive landscape, and commercial awareness.
  • Self-starter and problem solver.
  • Brand focused with a creative eye and good attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and design software (Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Experience of using Mediabox or other online approval, asset management and contract management systems.
  • An enthusiastic team player who enjoys being part of a close knit team, and can build relationships effectively with internal teams and external parties.
