Procurement Officer

Contract : 3 months

Rate : £22.65 per hour

Hours : 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm)

Location : Home-based

IR35 : Inside IR35

Start Date : 12 January 2026

Overview

A well-established UK charity is seeking an experienced Procurement Officer to provide short-term cover within its corporate shared services function. The role will support end-to-end procurement activity, ensuring compliant, efficient, and value-driven procurement processes across a complex, mission-led organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support all stages of the tender and procurement lifecycle, including documentation, advertising, contract award, and ongoing contract management.
  • Apply best-practice procurement principles, informed by current developments and efficiencies in procurement.
  • Capture and analyse supplier performance data to support effective contract and supplier management.
  • Produce accurate monthly and quarterly compliance and spend reports for managers and budget holders.
  • Maintain central registers of contracts, suppliers, and key procurement data.
  • Contribute to improving procurement practice across the organisation.
  • Build and manage effective supplier relationships, including negotiation across a range of goods and services.
  • Work collaboratively across teams while remaining effective with minimal supervision.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in procurement and / or supply chain management within a complex organisation.
  • Experience supporting formal tender and compliance-led procurement processes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and supplier management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and time management.
Qualifications
  • CIPS qualified to at least Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • Experience working within the charity, third sector, or public sector is highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
