Job description

To support the delivery of the SRP Project, we are seeking a Process Engineer who will support multi‑discipline teams with process design calculations, simulations, reports, safety assessments, HAZOP participation, and design reviews.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out engineering calculations to deliver quality functional input to projects.
  • Ensure all work complies with corporate, departmental, and legislative requirements to maintain consistent, high‑quality delivery.
  • Produce process deliverables including engineering flow diagrams, process descriptions, data sheets, calculations, and line lists.
  • Produce and check nuclear and conventional process safety deliverables such as design justification reports, DSEAR risk assessments, and chemotoxic risk assessments.
  • Support procurement, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning of process equipment.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Process Engineering or a related role.
  • Knowledge of solid powder handling system design is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Process Design Health, Safety & Environmental (DHSE) issues and key regulations (e.g., DSEAR, CDM, COMAH) is preferable.
  • Pro‑active, self‑starter with excellent collaboration, problem‑solving, communication, innovation, and leadership skills.
  • Adaptable engineering experience with transferable skills across diverse projects and industries.

Project Context

The Opportunity Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under a 20‑year PPP to deliver £7 bn of major projects, including major site‑wide improvements and supporting services. The Sellafield Product & Residue Store (SPRS) Retreatment Plant (SRP) Project will provide a facility that receives Special Nuclear Material (SNM) from existing stores across the Sellafield site and processes it into a form suitable for safe and secure storage until 2120.
