Are you an experienced solicitor with a passion for private client law? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our reputable and expanding multi-office firm as a Private Client Solicitor. This is an exciting opportunity to handle a broad private client caseload within a supportive, flexible and progressive environment. With multiple offices across the South, the firm have a very efficient, talented and well established private client department.

Key Responsibilities in Private Client Law

  • Managing a varied portfolio of private client matters, including the preparation of wills, estate administration, probate, trusts, tax planning, and powers of attorney, from initial instruction to completion.
  • Offering clear, practical legal advice to clients, ensuring sensitive and effective handling of confidential family, financial and estate issues.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents such as wills, trusts and lasting powers of attorney, alongside inheritance tax planning and Court of Protection applications where necessary.
  • Liaising with external parties including financial advisors, accountants, the Probate Registry and HMRC to ensure efficient administration of estates and trusts.
  • Keeping accurate and compliant records using the firm’s case management system, while adhering to SRA, AML, GDPR and STEP best practice requirements.
  • Actively contributing to the team environment through knowledge sharing and peer support, including guidance for junior colleagues on private client procedures.
Essential Skills and Experience for Private Client Solicitors
  • At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience (or equivalent) working within private client law, handling a broad caseload independently.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the relevant areas of law, including wills, trusts, probate, tax planning and elderly client matters.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a proven ability to draft, review and negotiate complex legal documents accurately.
  • Outstanding communication and client care skills, with the ability to provide empathetic advice and build trusted relationships in person and remotely.
  • Confidence in managing matters autonomously while working collaboratively as part of a wider team, including using modern case management systems and standard MS Office applications.
  • STEP qualification or working towards it is desirable but not essential.
