Overview

Private Client Lawyer – Care and Capacity Team

Wollens is seeking an experienced and motivated Private Client Lawyer to join our Care and Capacity Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable clients and making a real difference in their lives. You will be working in a collaborative environment, providing high-quality legal advice and representation in matters relating to care, capacity and the Court of Protection. The role would be primarily based in our Torquay office, but we are looking to expand our support to our Exeter and North Devon offices.

Our Private Client team is renowned for its breadth of expertise, covering all aspects of private client work and consistently delivering award-winning service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising clients and their families on all aspects of mental capacity law, including Lasting Powers of Attorney, Deputyship applications, and related issues
  • Representing clients in Court of Protection proceedings
  • Managing complex cases involving health and welfare decisions, financial matters, and safeguarding concerns
  • Working closely with healthcare professionals, social services, and other stakeholders
  • Drafting legal documents and providing clear, practical advice
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice
About You
  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with experience in private client law
  • Expertise in care and capacity matters, including Court of Protection work
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and understanding for vulnerable clients
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
