Principal Consultant – Agri‑Food & Regenerative Agriculture

Anthesis is a global sustainability activator and B Corp committed to delivering resilient, high‑impact solutions to the world’s food and agriculture sector. We seek a Principal Consultant to lead agri‑food and regenerative agriculture projects across the value chain, from responsible sourcing to supplier engagement and social/environmental management systems.

Responsibilities
  • Work with major global retail and FMCG clients to provide strategic solutions for sustainability challenges across commodity supply chains.
  • Drive business development in this service area by upselling to existing clients and sourcing new opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed project proposals, including operational and commercial estimates, collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
  • Lead client‑facing deliverables such as workshops, interviews, research, data analysis and reporting.
  • Create client‑ready outputs and brief colleagues on responses to client challenges.
  • Support junior team members to project‑manage clients and act as a senior voice to ensure high‑quality delivery.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with clients and understand their businesses.
  • Manage project teams to drive profitability, account growth, commercial success, and impact.
  • Collaborate with global teams to provide ongoing sustainable agriculture and food expertise.
  • Review primary supplier engagement data across various sectors to support client decarbonisation opportunities.
  • Develop training collateral to upskill key clients and stakeholders.
  • Advise clients on setting and delivering against SBTi and decarbonisation journeys in agricultural supply chains, including FLAG.
  • Conduct 1:1 meetings with internal Anthesis teams, client stakeholders and third parties to provide insights on production systems and sustainability hotspots.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience (7+ years) in arable/livestock/fresh produce/commodities sectors.
  • Practical experience in project or programme management, either in‑house, as a consultant or in an NGO environment.
  • Strengths in multi‑stakeholder environments with senior stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of agri‑food value‑chain sustainability challenges, greenhouse gas reduction and regenerative agriculture.
  • Knowledge of SBTi and Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
  • Experience delivering high‑quality professional reports in multiple formats for diverse audiences.
  • Business development experience and ability to build a commercial pipeline.
  • Line‑management experience of junior colleagues.
  • Strong analytical skills, commercial acumen and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Understanding of sustainability legislation and reporting affecting food‑system organisations.
  • Fluency in English.
