Primary Teaching Assistant - Swadlincote

Day-to-Day, Part-Time & Full-Time Positions Available

We are looking for experienced and supportive Primary Teaching Assistants to work in a range of primary schools across Swadlincote and the surrounding areas. These roles are ideal for candidates seeking flexible day-to-day work, consistent part-time hours, or full-time long-term placements.

About the Role

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment. You will work under the direction of the class teacher and contribute to pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils 1:1, in small groups, and within whole-class settings
  • Assist with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy activities
  • Help prepare learning resources and support lesson delivery
  • Promote positive behaviour and support classroom routines
  • Provide tailored support for pupils with SEND or additional needs
  • Supervise pupils during transitions, activities, and break times
  • Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (CACHE/NCFE or equivalent)
  • Recent UK school experience, ideally within a primary setting
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable Experience
  • Knowledge of EYFS, KS1, or KS2 curriculum
  • Experience supporting phonics (e.g., Read Write Inc, Little Wandle)
  • Experience working with SEND, EAL, or behavioural needs
  • Ability to deliver small-group interventions
