A supportive and highly regarded primary school in Havering, London are seeking a passionate and understanding Teaching Assistant to join them as soon as possible to work closely with children in the school with SEMH. This is a full time role until July 2026 with the view of a permanent contract being offered before September 2026 for the right candidate.
Located in the heart of Havering London, this primary school has fantastic facilities and resources available to both staff and students. You will have access to a number of bus routes and is local to two stations, which are serviced by the District & Elizabeth line. There is also a staff car park for those who drive. This primary school provides a fun and secure learning environment for students and staff work closely together to ensure learning is fun and adapted to all needs.

This SEMH Teaching Assistant role involves working closely with students in KS1 & KS2 that have social, emotional and mental health needs. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be required to offer 1:1 support and meet the students educational and individual needs. The ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant will have excellent behaviour management and have the ability to work well with children in KS1 & KS2.
You will be directly supporting students as well as helping to organise the teaching and learning resources available to students. You will be working across the school or preferred Key Stage supporting a range of SEN pupils on a 1:1 basis or within small groups. Your focus will be on raising attainment and helping to improve students' academic performance as well as personal growth.
Experience as a Teaching Assistant or graduate status is welcomed. Empathy, enthusiasm and a very positive outlook are essential. Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to work well with children in KS1 & KS2 are required.
