Job description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Press Brake Operator to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of our press brake machinery, ensuring that metal is bent according to detailed specifications and drawings. This is a key role in maintaining high standards of quality and finish, as well as troubleshooting and problem‑solving any issues that arise during production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate press brake machinery to bend, shape, and form metal parts according to technical specifications.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine the proper bending sequences and dimensions.
  • Load and unload parts by hand, using sheet loaders or forklifts.
  • Communicate and troubleshoot fabrication issues with the draughts team, offering practical solutions to improve designs based on experience.
  • Perform quality checks on all parts, ensuring they meet the required specifications for quantity, quality, and dimensions.
  • Complete any necessary company documentation related to the production process.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the press brake to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace, adhering to Health & Safety standards at all times.
  • Collaborate with peers, sharing knowledge and supporting teamwork across the department.
  • Perform any other duties as required by management.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to follow operational guidelines, read batch numbers, and match them with specific parts.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Previous experience operating Trumpf press brake machinery or similar.
  • Competent computer skills and experience using measurement tools such as micrometers and callipers.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time and use lifting aids as required.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Desirable Attributes
  • Full clean driving license.
  • Forklift license.
  • Experience in Health & Safety training.
  • Excellent timekeeping and punctuality.
  • Physically able to handle manual tasks, including lifting and moving parts.
  • A proactive attitude, keen to learn and take instructions.
  • Located in Braintree or nearby, with a maximum 30-40 minute commute.
Working Hours
  • Mon: Off
  • Tues, Wed, Thu: 6am – 5pm
  • Fri: 6am – 3pm (30‑minute unpaid break, totaling 40 hours per week)
