Practice Nurse (Part-time)

Salary : up to £43,000 per annum

Join our dedicated team as a Part-time Practice Nurse

We are seeking a motivated and clinically skilled Part-time Practice Nurse to join our friendly, forward-thinking primary care team in Harrow. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality nursing care across a wide range of services while also taking responsibility for leading safe and effective infection control within the practice.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in compression bandaging and strong skills in infection prevention and control (IPC).

About the Role

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide a comprehensive range of primary care nursing services-including chronic disease management, women's health, wound care, and immunisations. You will also oversee the practice's IPC programme, ensuring policies and procedures are up to date, evidence-based, and aligned with national guidance.

Main Responsibilities
Clinical Care

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care across the practice.

Manage long-term conditions such as asthma, COPD, and diabetes, providing personalised care plans and reviews.

Identify patients at risk of developing chronic conditions and provide early interventions.

Provide women's health services, including cervical screening and contraceptive advice, according to national standards.

Deliver wound assessment and management, including Doppler assessments, compression bandaging, and suture removal.

Provide comprehensive travel health advice and administer travel vaccinations.

Request and process pathology tests appropriately.

Administer and monitor adult and childhood vaccination programmes.

Record Keeping & Governance

Maintain accurate clinical records using SNOMED CT.

Adhere to practice policies including chaperone procedures, infection control, and cold chain management.

Participate in clinical safety processes and respond to emergencies when required.

Lead the practice's infection prevention and control (IPC) programme, ensuring high standards across audits, policies, and day-to-day practice.

Provide IPC training, support, and expert advice to all staff groups.

Health Promotion & Patient Support

Contribute to health promotion and disease prevention initiatives.

Provide lifestyle advice, smoking cessation support, and opportunistic health education.

Recognise and appropriately refer patients with mental health needs.

Work with external agencies to support vulnerable patients and ensure continuity of care.

Team & Service Development

Work collaboratively with GPs, ANPs, GPNs, ACPs, Clinical Pharmacists, PAs, HCAs, and administrative staff.

Participate in safeguarding processes and multidisciplinary decision-making.

Engage in audits, quality improvement work, and shared learning activities.

Support and review clinical protocols.

Mentor colleagues within the nursing team and support team development.
