A health services organization in Edinburgh seeks an inspirational leader for the Practice Education Facilitator roles in nursing and midwifery. The successful candidate will support quality assurance of workplace learning and development of a sustainable learning environment. Applicants should have approved Practice Assessor experience and a passion for leading nursing and midwifery education. This role will contribute significantly to enhancing nursing standards across all care settings within NHS Lothian.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. Please note that the pay scale in this advert will not be changing as a result.

NHS Lothian Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) – 3 posts
An exciting opportunity to support and quality assure nursing and midwifery pre and post-registration workplace learning within Lothian Health Board area.
Within this role you will facilitate the development of the workplace as a sustainable quality learning environment for all nursing and midwifery professional staff working across all care settings within Lothian Health Board area
You will support staff to implement the NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment, supporting the development and consolidation as Practice Supervisors and Practice Assessors. In addition to supporting pre-registration nursing and midwifery students, you will be involved in supporting Newly Qualified NMC Registered Practitioners both in local areas and by delivering on the Newly Qualified Registrant programme. As a team, we are focused on widening access to nursing and midwifery, you will also be supporting other learners including HNC students, Open University and Return to Practice students.
You will contribute to collaborative working between NHS Lothian, NHS Education for Scotland and our Higher Education and Further Education partners.
A key aspect of this role is to both support and maximise practice learning capacity whilst maintaining a quality learning environment.
Applicants must have evidence of approved Practice Assessor experience.
