A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Lead Nurse to oversee nursing teams in West Berkshire and the London Boroughs. You will provide effective leadership and support substance misuse services. Role Purpose
Clinical Leadership: Support Director of Nursing to provide nursing leadership across aportfolio of services, as part of a multi-disciplinary leadership team; ensuring that careis delivered safely and effectively.
Team Management: Provide support and guidance to nursing teams including clinicalsupervision and where required line management supervision, appraisals, facilitatetraining and act as a role model, demonstrating best practices.
Clinical Care: provide direct clinical care, including prescribing interventions,community alcohol detoxification services and health & wellbeing interventions.Key duties and activities of the role
To work as part of the multi-disciplinary leadership team across a portfolio of services,driving excellent clinical interventions as part of a holistic approach.
To demonstrate and lead the development of strong clinical skills, role modelling andupholding best practice nursing standards in accordance with the principles of Nursing,core capabilities (the pillars of practice), up-to-date evidence based professionalpractice and Vias programmes and policies.
To assess for and provide safe, effective and evidence based clinical interventions forthose who use our services requiring stabilisation, detoxification and other clinicalsupport services in relation to their substance use.
Assist in the development of systems, pathways and documents that promote holisticdelivery of services to people with complex needs (e.g., psychiatry, criminal justice,blood borne viruses).
Promote and support the organisational interface for the benefit of people who use ourservices, for example, with suppliers, primary and secondary care services (includingpublic health, wholesalers, community pharmacy/GPs and hospitals respectively).
Contribute to (medicines/drug/devices/infection control etc) alert responses in line withorganisational protocols.
Be involved in and where appropriate take responsibility for relevant audits, ongoingmonitoring and implementation of associated recommendations/action plans aligned tonationally defined performance indicators.
Ensure active clinical input, either directly or via nurses within your service portfolio, tointernal and external incident/safeguarding/death review processes including mortalityreviews, coroners reports/representation and domestic homicide reviews. Working withthe multi-disciplinary portfolio team, take responsibility for the implementation ofclinical learning within your portfolio and for working with peers across Via toeffectively implement learning.
Contribute to the collation and use of clinical data and oversee the subsequentimprovements/developments to nursing practice required across your portfolio,working closely with operational, data & performance and quality colleagues.
Operate as part of a multi-disciplinary leadership team, role modelling effectivecollaborative leadership and decision-making.
Provide leadership to student nurses and nurse apprenticeship pathways, providecompetency assessment and training of staff/students/volunteers, identify and supportdevelopment needs of others and support colleagues to develop in their roles to deliverexcellent services.
Provide advice and guidance on clinical (including prescribing) issues to staff workingin the service portfolio, as well as other colleagues and partner agencies.
Where relevant, provide clinical/line management supervision for other staff andsupport facilitation of relevant meetings/training events.Person specification for the role
A registered nurse with the NMC with at least 4 years post registration experience.Registered and competent as a Non-Medical Prescriber.
Evidence of having undertaken a leadership course or demonstrable experience inleading a team with a willingness to continue developing in this area of practice
Have a passion for working with substance misuse services or with other sociallyexcluded or vulnerable groups.
Sound and demonstrable knowledge of clinical/prescribing issues relating toproblematic substance use, include appropriate recovery, harm reduction and healthpromotion interventions.
Solution focused with an inclusive and innovative approach to service development.
A demonstrable understanding of the Health and Social Care regulatory requirementsincluding the CQC, NICE and any other relevant bodies.
Have a sound and demonstrable knowledge of harm reduction and health promotioninterventions.
Experience of BBV screening and the administration of BBV vaccinations
Experience in monitoring community alcohol detoxification and administration of -prophylactic parenteral thiamine
Experience in performing an ECG and basic interpretation skills as well as thewillingness to develop additional clinical knowledge and skills in line with system, sectorand service needs.
A demonstratable commitment to working in partnership with other professionals suchas criminal justice agencies, primary care, secondary care, commissioners, communitygroups and other stakeholders to achieve good outcomes for people who use ourservices.
The ability to demonstrate resilience and work calmly under pressure, ensuring thatdeadlines are met, and ensure all information is recorded in a timely manner.
The ability to take responsibility for the clinical leadership of the service and deputisefor the Lead Clinician within competency levels.
The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in different settingsand to different groups of people.
Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office programs and digital meeting platformand Case Management Systems such as Nebula.
Great team working, communication, interpersonal skills and cooperative approach tosupporting colleagues and the whole team to deliver organisational objectives, as wellas in working directly with people who use our services and their significant others.Responsibilities for all Via staff
