Pay Rate: £90 - £110 per day (Dependent on Experience)

Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex

Contract: Full-time, Long-term (Starting January 2026)

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated PMLD Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant, all-age specialist school in the coastal town of Southend-on-Sea.

This role is ideal for those who are passionate about providing a high standard of care and education to students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.

Working in an all-age setting, you will have the unique chance to support students throughout their entire educational journey-from Early Years through to Post-16. You will be a vital part of a multi-disciplinary team ensuring that every child, regardless of their physical or cognitive challenges, has access to a meaningful and joyful school life.

Key Responsibilities

• Tailored Support: Deliver sensory-based learning and support students with complex medical and physical needs.
• Physical Care: Confidently manage personal care (toileting/feeding) and assist with moving and handling using hoists and standing frames.
• Specialist Communication: Use tools like Makaton, PECS, and eye-gaze technology to foster communication and independence.
• Therapeutic Integration: Work alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to implement daily exercises and postural support.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: Previous experience in an SEN school, care, or residential setting is essential.
• Manual Handling: A valid Moving & Handling certificate is highly desirable (training can be provided for the right candidate).
• Resilience: A calm, patient demeanor with a proactive "can-do" attitude.
• Compliance: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one immediately).
