Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in Social Housing or Building Maintenance.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Trade-based experience may be considered.

  • Undertake carpentry and plumbing repairs in occupied and vacant properties.
  • Fitting doors, kitchen installations, repairing leaks, replacing sanitary ware.
  • Conduct non-licenced asbestos removal (training provided).

Job description

Our client is seeking a carpenter and plumber multi-skilled tradesperson to undertake responsive and routine repairs, as well as void repairs, to their Housing and Corporate Assets. You will also support other maintenance contracts as required based on demand.

In this role, you will utilize your skills, knowledge, experience, and training to ensure high-quality workmanship, health & safety standards, and compliance when working on these property types.

The primary responsibilities include a variety of carpentry and plumbing repairs in occupied homes, buildings, and vacant properties. Tasks include; fitting doors, first and second fixing, kitchen installations, repairing minor leaks, replacing sanitary ware, ceramic wall tiling, vinyl flooring, and non-licenced asbestos removal (training provided).

Skills and Knowledge

  • NVQ Level 2-3 in carpentry/plumbing or equivalent qualification.
  • Trade-based experience may be considered.
  • A full, clean driving license to operate company vans.
  • 2–5 years of experience in Social Housing or Building Maintenance environments.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with residents and client representatives, especially when explaining necessary repairs.
  • Ability to complete work thoroughly and efficiently in one visit.
  • Skill in diagnosing the correct repair following appropriate procedures.
  • Self-management skills, prioritization, and efficient scheduling.
  • Use of judgment to make effective decisions and solve problems.
  • Demonstrated competence as a tradesperson with appropriate tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant technical, statutory, and legislative requirements, with ongoing updates.
  • Understanding of materials and methods used in building and maintenance industries.
