Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a full-time Planning Support Officer for Stoke-on-Trent City Council. The role involves providing guidance on planning processes, supporting application validations, and maintaining accurate records. Ideal candidates will have administrative experience, strong IT skills, and excellent communication abilities. This is a temporary position for an initial period of 6 months.

Job description

Belmont Recruitment are working with Stoke-on-Trent City Council to recruit a Planning Support Officer to join their Planning Services team on an initial 6 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and guidance to applicants, agents, and the public on planning processes.
  • Support the validation and processing of planning applications, enforcement cases, and related work.
  • Carry out monitoring, research, and investigations to support planning decisions.
  • Generate letters, reports, decision notices and consultation documents within statutory deadlines.
  • Record and maintain accurate information on planning systems, including reports, spreadsheets and statistical data.
  • Assist with the preparation of planning committee meetings and public consultations.
  • Display and maintain planning notices across the city.
  • Provide support for FOI requests, councillor enquiries, and planning condition checks.
About You
  • Experience in an administrative or customer service role, ideally within planning, local government or a regulatory service.
  • Strong IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office, databases, and document management systems.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
