My client are a specialist Planning Consultancy looking to grow their team with a Consultant or Senior Planner. Working as part of an experienced and driven team you will help todeliver outstanding planning advice on a wide range of development projects and issues. This role offers Hybrid working so you only have to go to the office 2 days week!

Tasks and responsibilities will include :

  • Undertaking planning appraisals
  • Attending planning, client and committee meetings
  • Providing verbal and written advice to clients
  • Liaising with consultants as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Preparing, lodging and negotiating planning, listed building, conservation area and advertisement applications
  • Preparing, submitting and progressing written representation, hearing and public inquiry appeals
  • Undertaking direct access instructions to Counsel
  • Preparing Local Development Plan representations including appearance at EIP
  • Working with / delegating to other members of the team
  • Deputising for Director(s) as necessary
  • Assisting with management of office / procedures
  • Other duties as appropriate to the role

The successful candidate will :

  • Require a flexible approach to working hours, acknowledging that client demands, and networking opportunities do not always fall within normal working hours
  • Be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or working towards membership
  • Be inquisitorial and a problem solver
  • Be highly analytical and numerate
  • Be a good verbal communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excel at report writing and presentation
  • Be ambitious and enthusiastic
  • Have practical experience of both development management and development plan processes
  • Have a good understanding of the housing and economic markets and how robust planning advice plays a central role in driving land value enhancement
