Job description

Due to staff retirement we have the opportunity for a Phlebotomist to join the team at Overdale, working 3 mornings a week and 2 out of 4 Saturday mornings to cover our extended hours.

This post is open to anyone with phlebotomy experience.

Main duties of the job

As a phlebotomist, your role focuses on providing safe and efficient blood collection services for patients. Youll ensure samples are taken accurately and handled correctly, while offering reassurance and care throughout the process. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients and contributing to the smooth running of clinical services.

Job responsibilities

Job PurposeTo provide high-quality phlebotomy services to patients, ensuring safe and accurate blood collection in line with clinical protocols and infection control standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venepuncture and collect blood samples from patients in a professional and reassuring manner.
  • Accurately label, record, and handle specimens to maintain integrity and traceability.
  • Follow strict infection control and health & safety procedures at all times.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure the phlebotomy area is clean and well-organized.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues to support smooth clinical operations.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to sample tracking and patient records.
  • Previous experience in phlebotomy or completion of accredited training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
