Job description

Glasgow City HSCP

This role covers the Northwest of the city and will predominantly be based at our Blair Court, 100 Borron Street site. An exciting chance to join the primary care pharmacy team in the Glasgow City HSCP Northwest Locality to support work in primary care in GP practice & care homes.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated technician to join the Glasgow City HSCP Northwest Primary Care Pharmacy Team and help support delivery of the Pharmacotherapy Service. You will be responsible for leading on service developments, operational planning, and education and development for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers in Primary Care.

As a senior member of the Primary Care Pharmacy Team, you will have an important role in promoting and implementing cost‑effective and evidence‑based prescribing within specific GP practices and Care Homes across NHS GGC. This role will involve working with GPs and the primary care multidisciplinary teams to improve medicines management and deliver excellent patient care. This post requires excellent leadership/management skills including communication, negotiation, organisational and IT skills along with the ability to influence and affect change. This is an opportunity to develop your career in Primary Care working with multi‑disciplinary teams, particularly GP Practices, Community Pharmacies, Care Homes and other care settings. Experience of working in Primary Care or as part of a multi‑disciplinary team is desirable.

Minimum requirements
  • Registrant with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Pharmacy Technician, NVQ3 or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
  • HNC Pharmacy services or equivalent management / clinical qualification
  • Significant post‑qualification experience as a pharmacy technician providing a broad understanding of a range of technical practice, and including staff management/leadership
