Pharmacist Team Manager (Primary Care)

Band 8a £62,861 - £67,665 pro rata

Plus Distant Islands Allowance £1,406 pro rata

25 hours per week

Fixed term Post for 1 year

(November 2025 – November 2026)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced pharmacist to join NHS Western Isles on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave within our Primary Care team.

Working across our remote and rural communities, you will lead prescribing improvement initiatives, provide expert pharmaceutical advice, and contribute to medicines governance and safety. You’ll be part of a small, supportive team committed to delivering high-quality care and innovation in a unique island setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support GP practices with prescribing advice and medicines optimisation.
  • Lead quality improvement and safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across primary care.
  • Mentor junior pharmacy staff and contribute to service development.
Essential Criteria:
  • GPhC registration.
  • MPharm or prior and equivalent qualifications
  • Significant post-registration experience.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and communication skills.
  • Leadership and project management experience.
  • Experience in primary care or prescribing support roles.
  • Independent prescribing qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Advanced Pharmacy Practice or undertaking formal training to postgraduate level to achieve competencies of a specialist practitioner.
  • Full driving licence.

We are also only a short journey from Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh by plane, with twice daily ferry sailing to Ullapool.
