We seek an inspiring and dynamic pharmacist to join our senior pharmacy management team as the Pharmacist Team Manager for Education, Training and Governance.
At an exciting time following many innovative changes to pharmacy staff training, this post will drive forward education and training of pharmacy staff in line with the changing landscape for pharmacy roles. The post also oversees the governance portfolio, including managing the Trust formulary and overseeing research.
We seek a forward thinking and innovative pharmacist able to work with other professionals driving forward change and development in these areas. They must have expert clinical and leadership skills and have a foundation in quality improvement as we look to support best practice. The role will need to embed lived experience across their areas.
They will be highly visible, actively modelling best practice to and coaching our ward teams to ensure that our patients consistently receive the best pharmaceutical care. Working with our senior departmental team of specialists and within the wider Trust, you will set the professional standard and develop our pharmacy team members to achieve their best and make the transition to the next level of their careers. The role is full time (37.5 hours per week), including participation in on-call, weekend, early, late and Bank Holiday rotas, as necessary.
The post is based in Basildon however this is negotiable. The post will involve frequent travel across Essex.

You should have a Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and be able to demonstrate evidence of postgraduate training and continuing professional development in clinical pharmacy practice.
Whilst ideally this would be in mental health, this post is first and foremost about operational delivery of Great Care - your transferrable skills means you will have what it takes to do what it takes. Experience in mentoring and line managing teams with energy and enthusiasm are vital ingredients, and anyone with a track record of similar in a non-specialist trust is encouraged to apply.

Support the development and implementation of the pharmacy strategy in relation to the pharmacy education, training and governance team
Lead on the development and delivery of pharmaceutical education sessions for clinical staff (e.g. prescribers, nurses) within the Trust. This may include participation in the Trusts induction programme. Participate in training to pre-and post- qualification clinical staff, and other staff involved in the handling or use of medicines.
Lead on education and training within the pharmacy team, ensuring compliance with professional requirements and overseeing staff undertaking post graduate studies. This includes developing and overseeing progression roles within the team
Lead on clinical supervision within the pharmacy team including supporting the development of clinical supervisors, assessing the quality of supervision and reporting on compliance.
Manage the Trust Formulary and Prescribing Guidelines; prepare new drug reviews, and support the functioning of the Medicines Management Group in its work around clinical and cost effectiveness.
Support innovation within the pharmacy education, training and governance team.
Promote and facilitate pharmacy practice related research within mental and community health pharmacy services.
Ensure safe and appropriate use of medicines in order to maximise benefits and minimise risk to patients. This will include regular review of prescriptions, identification of drug interactions and adverse effects, advice on clinical monitoring, compliance with legislation (for example, Medicines Act, Mental Health Act), compliance with Trust policies and guidelines.
Support the provision of a clinical pharmacy service to assigned wards or when supervising others undertaking a clinical pharmacy role.
To deputise for the Deputy Chief Pharmacist or Director of Pharmacy as required.
To lead the development and delivery of trust-wide initiatives and projects relating to medicines management as requested by the Deputy Chief Pharmacist or Director of Pharmacy.
To work collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues to ensure that the needs of the organisation can be met
To support and participate in clinical audit.
