  • We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Band 8a Pharmacist to lead and develop the pharmacy service within a busy clinical directorate at Aintree.
  • This is a key senior role, ideal for a confident and forward-thinking pharmacist with proven hospital experience and a passion for service improvement.
About the Role

As the Band 8a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading, managing, and developing the directorate’s pharmacy service
  • Ensuring the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines
  • Providing highly specialist pharmaceutical advice to clinical teams
  • Supporting multidisciplinary working across the directorate
  • Developing and implementing evidence-based protocols, guidelines, policies, and pathways
  • Contributing to governance, risk management, and audit activity
  • Supporting junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians through training and mentorship
  • Working closely with senior clinical and operational leaders to drive high standards of patient care
Requirements
  • GPhC-registered Pharmacist
  • Significant hospital pharmacy experience (essential)
  • Strong clinical knowledge within a specialist area
  • Experience contributing to or leading service development
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding of medicines governance, optimisation, and formulary processes
