Job summary

A childcare organization in Cramlington is seeking a Personal Care Assistant for a young girl with disabilities. The role includes providing personal care, supporting social activities, and ensuring safety. We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive and happy individual to provide support to this little girl. She is 9 years old and has a diagnosis of epilepsy, a learning disability and Chiari Malformation which can cause physical symptoms such as headaches, neck pain and muscle weakness. She is a wheelchair user so you should have good general health so that you can support her to get around and to lift and move her wheelchair when required. She is also fed via a gastronomy tube. Any training required around this will be provided. Her diagnosis means she has communication difficulties and you will get to know her ways of communication by getting to know her. She requires constant supervision due to her lack of danger awareness. You will ideally have experience of working with children with disabilities. You will support with going out into the community as well as various tasks at home including watching TV, arts and crafts and playing with toys. There is some personal care involved in this role including changing nappies and pads and ensuring cleanliness.

Hours – 5 hours per week during term time
10 hours per week during school holidays
