A support service organization is looking for a dedicated Personal Care Assistant in Blyth to support a young man with Autism and other disabilities. The role is part-time, requiring 4 hours of support on flexible days, helping him access social and leisure activities. Experience with personal care and working with individuals with learning disabilities is necessary. A full UK driving license and personal car are also required.

Overview

Personal Care Assistant for a young man P/T @ £13.74/hr in Blyth - FTE - £26.8k. Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: feb5db1a

We are looking to recruit a support worker to provide enabling support for a young man with Autism, ADHD, Tourette's Syndrome and a moderate to severe Learning Disability as well as eyesight loss and he uses hearing aids. Please note that this role is to cover long term sickness however may lead onto permanent hours.

This young man suffers from high levels of anxiety and will need support to manage this. He enjoys travelling on the metro and buses, going to the cinema and theatre, watching trains on level crossings and active activities like ten pin bowling. If you are a friendly, active and enthusiastic person this would be a great role for you.

You should have good general health as this is an active role and you should be prepared for each day to be different. He is mobile and uses mobility aids to support him such as a Ramble Tag, a walker or manual wheelchair depending on the activity and distance he needs to travel that day.

The support is required to cover 2/3 days per week and these days can be flexible. This would be 4 hours per day and is to enable this young man to access social and leisure activities within the local community.

There may be further hours available. He attends a day service through the week and part of your role could be to support when he attends this service.

Experience of working with adults with Autism and learning disabilities is required and also experience of supporting clients with personal care.
