A committed, caring, flexible and mature Personal Assistant is required to support a disabled lady for 12 to 15 hours per week to manage a daily routine for herself, her horses, sheep and guide dog. Also required to enable her to access national level Para and RDA dressage competitions and training.
Principal duties and responsibilities
- To support, assist and ensure the safety of the employer at all times whilst maintaining her daily routines.
- Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence.
- To support an independent lifestyle, both at home and in the community.
- Providing support to the employer whilst attending activities with her horses (with the emphasis being on support and assist).
- Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
- To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction.
- To assist with the maintenance of the front lawn for the benefit of a guide dog.
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours/ Also be prepared to share duties and coordinate rest periods with others during periods away from home.
- To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.

- Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

- Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.
- Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
- Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
- Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
- A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is likely to be required. This is determined by the needs of the employer and whether you live within walking distance.
- You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
- Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.
