A lady from Llandovery requires a Personal Assistant to support her for 10 hours per week. Days would be agreed in advance and can be flexible. The employer has limited mobility so a car that can fit a wheelchair will be needed. She is looking for a friendly chat at home and occasional assistance with travelling to meetings, going out to the cinema or a cafe to help with her mental health. Lady is diagnosed with ASD and multiple health conditions; some experience with autism is welcome but not necessary.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence
- Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community
- Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
- Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
- Providing companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction
- Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
- Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
- Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during your working hours
- Ensuring compliance with Data Protection Act
- Being mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on (01267 228751)
- Being responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance
Communication & Relationships
- Ability to develop supportive and caring relationship with employer
- To undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner
- Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary
Job Working Environment
Working in the employer’s home and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.

- Able to develop long‑term supportive and consistent relationships with employers
- A full, clean driving licence; use of a car is likely to be required. This is determined by the needs of the employer and whether you live within walking distance
- Prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours
- Prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employer’s need
