Personal Assistant Vacancy – Llanelli/Hendy Area (Direct Payments)
vacancy for a female Personal Assistant to support my 16 year old daughter, who is autistic and has learning difficulties.
Hours & Mileage:
- 5 hours per week (flexible)
- Up to 40 miles per week reimbursed at 45p per mile
Role Responsibilities:
- Attending youth/social clubs with her
- Shopping trips
- Going out for a meal
- Cinema visits
- Supporting her to build confidence, independence, and positive social experiences in the community
About Her:
She is a gentle, funny young person who loves dancing and all types of music . benefits from calm, patient support. She enjoys getting out and about and responds well to someone who helps her feel comfortable and confident.
Ideal Candidate:
- Kind, patient, and understanding
- Must have a good sense of humour
- Experience with autism or additional needs
- Reliable and able to support her safely in the community
- Female applicants only due to personal care boundaries

Responsibilities (Detailed):
- Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence
- Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community
- Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
- Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
- To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction
- Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
- Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
- To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.
- Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on (01267 228751)
- Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
Relationships: Communication / Nature of Contacts:
- Ability to develop supportive and caring relationship with employer.
- To undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.
Job Working Environment:
Working in employer’s homes and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.
Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
- Caring, patient and friendly.
- Responsible, reliable and honest.
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Has good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
- Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.
- Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
- Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
- Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
- A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is likely to be required. This is determined by the needs of the employer and whether you live within walking distance.
- You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours
- Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.
