Job summary

A staffing agency in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Personal Advisor to support care leavers aged 16–25 in their transition to independent adulthood. The successful candidate will develop pathway plans, coordinate with agencies, and assist with housing and life skills. Requires relevant experience and an Enhanced DBS. This is a full-time position with a hybrid working model. Contract duration is 3 months for sickness cover.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and monitor Pathway Plans for young people.
  • Build relationships with external agencies for support.
  • Assist care leavers in securing accommodation and financial entitlements.
  • Support young people in building independent living skills.
  • Champion the rights of care leavers.

Job description

Rate: £16.90 per hour

Contract: December 2025 – February 2026 (sickness cover)

Hours: Full-time

We are seeking an experienced Personal Advisor to support young people leaving care as they transition to independent adulthood. The successful candidate will work within the Children, Young People & Families division, helping care leavers aged 16–25 to achieve their personal goals in education, employment, housing, health, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pathway Planning: Develop, review, and monitor Pathway Plans in partnership with young people, social workers, and partner agencies to ensure aspirations and needs are met.
  • Multi-Agency Coordination: Build effective relationships with external agencies, families, and carers to deliver joined-up support.
  • Housing & Finance: Assist care leavers in securing and sustaining suitable accommodation and accessing financial entitlements or benefits.
  • Independent Living Skills: Support young people to build essential life skills including budgeting, tenancy management, and accessing local resources.
  • Advocacy: Champion the rights and voices of care leavers, ensuring they are empowered to make informed choices about their futures.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain accurate records and provide progress updates on allocated cases.
  • Transition Support: Offer consistent guidance as young people move from social worker support into adulthood.
Requirements
  • Experience working with young people or care leavers within a social care, housing, or youth support setting.

  • Enhanced DBS for both Children’s and Adults’ Regulated Activity (required).
