This is a unique opportunity for someone with some environmental permitting experience looking to develop their technical expertise. The role involves overseeing ongoing applications including permit variations, submission of new applications, project management, liaising with the regulators, and ensuring timely and high-quality submissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing ongoing permit applications, including coordinating the progression of existing environmental permit applications
  • Prepare, draft and submit new permit applications where required
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g. compliance, finance, operations) and external parties (e.g. regulators, consultants)
  • Ensure all submissions are compliant with relevant regulations and reflect current operational requirements
  • Maintain up‑to‑date permit trackers, document control and document management
  • Ability to work in an agile and adaptable manner, responding to emerging business needs. The role sits within an environment where flexibility and responsiveness are key to successfully managing multiple ongoing permit projects
Experience Requirements
  • Experience in waste permitting (landfill, waste treatment) is essential
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to write clear, structured technical documents and coordinate complex permit applications
  • Organised and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple permit applications and regulatory deadlines while taking into account business needs and priorities
  • Experience liaising with regulatory bodies, such as the Environment Agency or SEPA
  • Working knowledge of relevant UK environmental legislation (especially the Environmental Permitting Regulations and related guidance)
What we offer
  • Opportunity to work on high-impact permitting projects across a diverse waste portfolio
  • Working within a small, experienced team
  • You will gain exposure to a wide range of environmental permitting scenarios, and this is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to deepen their understanding of permitting strategy and regulation
  • You’ll be working on high‑value, often complex applications that directly impact operational delivery and regulatory relationships. Your input will be visible at a senior level and across the wider organisation
