You will have the opportunity to further your knowledge and be provided with specialised training to support you within this role. This is a great opportunity to join a developing service and make a real difference in women's care. If you are successful, you will work with mothers, their infants and families who are at risk of or experiencing severe and complex perinatal mental health conditions.

Responsibilities
  • The post holder will work as part of the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team to ensure that women with severe or complex mental health conditions who are planning pregnancy, are pregnant or have a child under one, receive high quality, evidence-based specialist advice, assessment and interventions.
  • To ensure the provision of specialist advice, consultation, liaison and education to professionals who work with women contemplating pregnancy and during the perinatal period.
  • The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist is to hold a small caseload of the most complex, high-risk cases, provide and assist the development of skills, knowledge and understanding regarding the risks associated with this client group both with internal and external partners.
  • To work directly with complex, high-risk women, their infants and families who are at risk of or are experiencing severe and complex perinatal mental health problems.
  • To attend perinatal referral and clinical meetings to offer support and participate in clinical decision making.
  • To take a lead role in ensuring that a high standard of multi-disciplinary care planning is in place and to be accountable for the nursing contribution to the process.
  • To maintain personal and professional development by providing direct clinical work to individuals and their families with appropriate evidence-based intervention.

  • To support the manager in developing and implementing change within the team.
  • To be part of the continual development of the Countywide Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service in line with the NHS Long Term Plan.
  • To contribute to the development and delivery of Perinatal Mental Health Training and Education to other staffing groups.
Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence and use of a vehicle. You will need to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs.
  • Please confirm in your application that you meet the specified criteria.
