Anexciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Peri-Operative Practitioners to join thePost Anaesthetic Care Unit / Recovery Team covering various specialities at St.James Hospital.
Thesuccessful candidates will join this driven and motivated team to facilitatesafe, efficient and effective post-operative care in both acute and electivesurgical specialities.
PACUprovides an opportunity to develop a wide range of skills within a friendly andsupportive environment. These skills include high dependency, airwaymanagement, pain management and care of the unconscious patient. The unitprovides post-operative care for 23 operating theatres in a variety of theatresuites within St James Hospital. We provide care to a wide range ofspecialities including: Robotic cases, Urology, Colorectal, Thoracic, Oncology,Gynae, Breast, Ophthalmic, Hepatobiliary, General surgery, Obstetric and acutecare.

Asa perioperative practitioner the jobholder will :
provide immediate post operative carefor patients within the peri-operative environment from multiple specialties.
play a key role in the assessment ofpatient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation ofprogrammes of care
ensure effective communication ismaintained at all times within the MDT and with patients and carers.
provide support to registered andunregistered staff within the department, including learners.
Ensure PACU areas are clean and safeenvironments and use resources responsibly
act as a role model, promotingquality evidence-based practice and positive professional relationships withinthe team and the MDT

JOBPURPOSE/SUMMARY
Toprovide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development,implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for the Peri-operativepatient. To carry out all relevant formsof care competently without direct supervision.
Communicatewith members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate continuity of careand promote effective team working.
Toassist with the teaching and supervision of learners and other staff.
Thejobholder will work within an environment caring for peri-operative patients.
