Job description

Overview

Motus Commercials located in BARNSLEY is on the lookout for a dedicated DAF PDI Technician to join our friendly team providing exceptional levels of service to our customers. The position will see you working: 5 days per week, Monday to Friday. Week 1 - 07:00 to 16:15. Week 2 - 07:45 to 17:00. Potential of flexible working hours if feasible.

Main duties

1. Prepare new vehicles for delivery to customers following New sales instructions.
2. Inspect/receive new vehicles from delivery companies.
3. Install vehicle accessories and upgrades in line with legislation.
4. Retrofit manufacturer approved safety systems.
5. Complete vehicle recalls and campaigns as recommended by manufacturer.
6. Diagnose, observe, recognise and report on vehicle or component defects or symptoms of impending failure.
7. Ensure all manufacturer paperwork and electronic documentation (e.g., DAF-check, PDI sheets) are fully completed and signed off.
8. Interpret and implement technical service instructions data to ensure a repair or replacement component is performed in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
9. Occasionally carry out receiving inspections to vehicles at third party bodybuilders or other dealers off site.
10. Draw the Supervisor/Workshop Controller’s attention to any faults that could affect safety, legality, or owner interests.
11. Protect all vehicles under repair against damage and inspect each vehicle for damage and cleanliness upon completion of repair.
12. Attend recognised courses of instruction as required and assist in training of apprentices when assigned.

As a PDI Technician at Motus Commercials in Barnsley we will be looking for you to demonstrate

• Time served Technician with City & Guilds or equivalent. Minimum 1 year post-apprentice experience. Diagnostics, safety inspections, routine maintenance knowledge, general mechanical ability. Enthusiastic, team player, flexible. It would be advantageous to have: DAF product experience. Irtec Licence. HGV Licence.
