The Opportunity

The Reading office is seeking a Payroll Executive to join its friendly and experienced Payroll team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent role for someone who enjoys autonomy, client interaction and managing a varied portfolio.

You'll take ownership of your own set of clients, supporting the smooth and accurate processing of weekly and monthly payrolls.

You'll be working alongside a supportive team delivering payroll services to over 200 clients.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Manage your own portfolio of payroll clients, handling end-to-end weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Process starters, leavers, holiday pay, statutory payments, and personal changes accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure all payrolls comply with RTI and Auto Enrolment requirements.
  • Assist with year-end procedures, including P60s and final submissions.
  • Respond to client queries by phone and email, providing a high-quality and professional service at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain service excellence across the department.
  • Contribute to process improvements and support the continuous development of the payroll function.
About You

To be successful, you will bring:

  • At least 3 years' payroll experience within a professional practice or multi-payroll environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of RTI, Auto Enrolment, statutory payments, and manual tax/NIC calculations.
  • Experience handling multiple and/or complex payrolls.
  • Excellent communication and client-service skills - you'll be speaking with clients daily.
  • Strong time-management ability and confidence working to deadlines.
  • Good IT skills, particularly in Excel and Word.
  • Experience using IRIS Payroll Professional is a bonus (training provided).
  • Payroll qualifications (e.g. CIPP) are welcomed but not essential for strong, experienced candidates.
  • A proactive, detail-focused and team-oriented approach.
