Job description

The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and suitably qualified patient pathway/waiting list officer to support the waiting list and administration teams within the department. The post holder will work within standard operating procedures and provide support to the Waiting List/Pathway Manager and Directorate Support Team by ensuring patients pathways are reflected correctly on the Patient Administration System (Myrddin). The post holder will undertake tasks such as correction of stopped clocks, pathway validation, data entry issues, and provide support in the outsourcing of patients to private providers when accessing LTA Contracts. The post holder will undertake regular validation of waiting lists and patient pathways, highlighting any issues and anomalies to the waiting List/Pathway Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and prioritising own day to day workload.
  • Sending out weekly lists to specialities as appropriate and booking staff, clearly identifying patients listed who require immediate action.
  • Reviewing patient pathways and waiting list data, analysing and updating information in accordance with Referral to Treatment Time (RTT) Guidelines, ensuring treatment times are measured accurately.
  • Reporting any potential waiting list breaches to the Waiting List Manager in a timely manner.
  • Working with the Waiting List Manager to select patients for outsourcing, based on waiting times and agreed parameters e.g. case mix, patient's suitability.
  • Contacting patients to offer appointment and obtain availability for their care to be outsourced.
  • Undertaking regular, routine validation of waiting lists to ensure data quality.
  • Utilising the Patient Administration System (WPAS Myrddin) and electronic Theatre Systems to process, transmit and store patient information which will require advanced keyboard skills.
