Pastoral Support Team Member / Learning Mentor -

January - July 2025 : Temp to Perm - 140 per day

The Role: Pastoral Support Team Member

As part of a committed and skilled Pastoral Support Team, you will:

  • Use your strengths to support student wellbeing and improve their capacity to learn
  • Help students develop emotional self-regulation and build positive, trusting relationships
  • Guide students in reflecting on actions and feelings when things go wrong
  • Develop a strong understanding of each student's SEND needs to support the reflect‑repair‑reconnect process
  • Be proactive in de‑escalating behaviour using appropriate strategies and techniques
  • Build meaningful pastoral relationships that support personal development
  • Work collaboratively with the Pastoral Support Team Lead, teachers, and support staff to shape future learning through accurate, grounded assessments

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills are essential.
  • A strong track record within pastoral or SEN support roles is highly desirable.
About the Students

The students:

  • are fantastic, unique, and full of potential-but not an "easy ride"!
  • typically join from mainstream settings where large environments haven't worked for them
  • stay until 16-17 before progressing to local colleges or training
  • have a range of Learning Needs, SLCN, and Emotional Needs
  • achieve qualifications up to GCSE/BTEC
  • make significant academic, personal, and social progress during their time at the school
Additional Information

Small classes: 2 per year group, each with 11-12 students

30 lessons per week including assembly
