Job summary

A leading educational recruitment agency is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Leader in St Albans. About the Role

Tradewind Recruitment are currently supporting our client, a forward-thinking and inclusive academy based in St Albans, in their search for a dedicated Pastoral Leader to join their team from January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people across the academy's Hertfordshire sites.

As Pastoral Leader, you will play a vital role in supporting students' wellbeing, personal development, and academic engagement. You will work across the curriculum and wider school community to help remove barriers to learning, nurture positive behaviour, and promote resilience and respect among students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pastoral, health, and welfare support for pupils across multiple sites.
  • Work closely with students displaying behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to student welfare.
  • Support the delivery of pastoral interventions and mentoring programmes.
  • Use ICT systems confidently to record, track, and report pastoral information.
About You
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills (NVQ Level 2 or GCSE grades A-C / 9-4).
  • Proven experience of working with young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, resilient, and compassionate approach to supporting young people.
  • Flexibility to work across all current and future sites within the trust.
