About the Part-Time 1:1 Tutor Position

Prospero Teaching are looking for a Tutor to work 1:1 with students in Royston and the surrounding areas.

We have a variety of part‑time tuition opportunities that can take place during the school day or after school hours/weekends.

• Support mainly the core subjects of Maths, English and sometimes Science across all key stages (students usually at low levels, the highest level expected is foundation).
• Flexibility, adaptability and experience working within the education sector are required.
• Lessons could take place in the student’s home, care home or an alternative setting such as a local library.
• Students may have difficulty responding to conventional teaching and may have behaviour and/or SEN difficulties; they are often working at lower levels than peers.

Contract Details

Location: Royston

Position: Part‑time 1:1 Teacher

Type of work: Teaching students either at their own home or a local library.

Start date: ASAP

Contract type: Temporary – likely to be long term.

Duration: Ongoing until the student can return to school.

Hours: 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

Minimum rate: £25 per hour.

Experience, Training and Qualifications

• Relevant tutoring experience and ability to provide your own lesson plans.
• Experience working with students with SEMH would be advantageous.
• Highly motivated and focused on achieving the best for every student.
• A positive attitude and desire towards working with SEN students.
• The ability to engage and motivate students while making learning fun.

Eligibility

• Hold Right to Work in the UK.
• Hold an enhanced child‑barred DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
• Provide two professional child‑related references covering the last two years.
