Job description

Overview

The Event Staff position is a part-time, on-campus job with a flexible schedule. Responsibilities include collaborating as a team and working independently to guarantee the smooth operation of events hosted by USUE.

Responsibilities

Set up and take down tables, chairs, staging, and event equipment

Assist with room layout, table settings, and decor for catered events

Serve food and beverages in a professional and courteous manner

Polish tableware, maintain cleanliness of service areas, and perform laundry duties as needed

Greet guests and provide excellent customer service throughout events

Monitor event flow and communicate with team members to resolve issues quickly

Ensure all tasks are completed in line with campus and safety guidelines

Qualifications

Customer service skills, comfortable in large crowds

Proficiency in following both written and verbal instructions.

Keen attention to detail with a willingness to assist as needed.

Capability to work independently and collaboratively.

This position requires working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of event settings. Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on event schedules. Event Staff must be able to:

Stand and walk for extended periods

Lift and carry up to 30 pounds

Perform repetitive tasks such as setting tables or folding linens

Work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Interact professionally with guests and team members

Follow detailed instructions and stay focused in busy or loud environments

Maintain a positive attitude and professional appearance at all times
