Job summary

A family-run business in Tunbridge Wells is looking for an experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage daily finance functions. Responsibilities include monitoring bank accounts, processing payments, preparing payroll information, and assisting with year-end audits. Ideal candidates will have substantial bookkeeping experience, solid knowledge of VAT, and proficiency in accounting software. This role offers flexible hours across 3 days and a salary of £34,000 pro rata (approximately £21,000).

  • Monitor bank accounts and cashflow forecasting.

  • Process PAYE, NI, and pension payments.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Assist with year-end preparation and audit support.

Location: Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Hours: 21 hours per week (ideally across 3 days - flexible)
Salary: £34,000 pro rata (circa £21,000)

An established family‑run business based in Tunbridge Wells is seeking an experienced Part‑Time Bookkeeper to manage day‑to‑day and month‑end finance functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily monitoring of bank accounts and cashflow forecasting
  • Processing supplier payments and completing bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Preparing payroll information and liaising with an external payroll provider
  • Processing PAYE, NI and pension payments
  • Posting monthly journals, stock adjustments and multi‑currency reconciliations
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns (MTD)
  • Managing new starter administration and pension auto‑enrolment
  • Assisting with year‑end preparation and audit support

The successful candidate will have proven experience in a senior bookkeeping role, with strong knowledge of VAT, payroll, reconciliations, and year‑end processes. They will be highly organised, accurate, and able to work independently. Confidence in using accounting software is essential.
