Job description

This is an opportunity to join an established friendly team of GPs, Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants.

The role will provide a specialist resource as an advanced paramedic practitioner for our patients working with clinicians, nursing team and in collaboration with other members of the practice multidisciplinary teams. We have two sites in Bexhill, one in Sidley and the other in Albert Road, Bexhill Town Centre.

As part of the team you will work within our practice community, as an autonomous, accountable paramedic practitioner providing holistic care whilst assessing, diagnosing and providing treatment to patientsusing competent and up to date clinical skills.

We promote self-care and educate service users to allow them to be empowered to make informed choices about treatment.

The successful candidate will need to hold a full driving licence with suitable insurance and access to suitable vehicle. Mileage is claimed back at the standard BMA Committee Rate currently set at 45 pence per mile.

Main duties of the job

Minor illness assessment, diagnosis andtreatment with access to seek advice, review and onward referral withinclinical teams at Sidley Medical Practice. Providing care to patients on domicile visits and to develop skills within triage and telephone consultations.

Patients requiring care and onward referral tosecondary care to be discussed with available GP and this process to bereviewed ongoing with the Partners.

To develop care plans for patients when requiredand to be involved with the continuity of care of our patients such as in endof life care, chronic disease management as developed and supervised with thePartners.

Prescribe/issue medications with suitableprescribing training and supervision and within patient group directives. Thisis to include with development patient specific instructions such asvaccinations, nebulised medications, oxygen administration and intravenous /muscular medications in medical emergencies.

Assess, diagnose, treat, refer or direct to other services; our patients who attend surgery or request domicile visits relating to unscheduled minor conditions, injuries or acute illness.

Undertake woundmanagement within competencies and resources available & the collection of pathologicalspecimens including intravenous blood sampling,point of care testing and swab collection.

About us

At Sidley Medical Practice we have a well established team of clinicians providing excellent care to our patients. We want to enhance the team further with the inclusion of a paramedic practitioner to work alongside the GPs.

We are part of the Bexhill PCN and as such are developing processes to provide enhanced support to patients in the community and create additional clinical pathways to create increased local options for referral, treatment and support.

Our Paramedic practitioner will be an excellent addition to our multiskilled team and allow us the flexibility of providing the right care at the right time by the most appropriate clinician.

We currently have a team of GP's, 4 Practice Nurses, 1 treatment room nurse, 1 associate practitioner. 3 HCAs and 1 Phlebotomist providing services to 14,000+ registered patients.

There is also the senior management team including the Practice Manager, Operations Manager, HR Manager, Rota and QOF Manager and Assistant Finance Manager.

To maintain accurate, contemporaneous andconcise electronic records within the practice, having received suitabletraining and supervision in the use of EMIS software and read coding/templatesubmission.

Involve in ongoing education within the practiceand to support and provide training to staff members as identified.

Participate in annual appraisal with audit asidentified and to develop and maintain Continuous Professional Development plans.

To work collaboratively alongside reception andadministration staff and to ensure that service user needs are met.

To ensure you have adequate and appropriateindemnity in place.

Administration:

Participate in theadministrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team.

Ensure appropriate mileage claims are made accurately andsubmitted to the Finance Manager.

Ensure all necessary paperwork and registrationdocumentation is completed and submitted to the Quality Assurance Manager.

The post holder has a legal responsibility tocomply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, other relevant informationand any risk or safety related issues introduced by Sidley Medical Practice inthe interests of staff, patients and contractors.

The post holder must be aware of theirresponsibilities under the Health Act 2008 Code of Practice for the Preventionand control of Healthcare Associated Infections.

The post holder willbe shown how to access relevant polices within the practice during theirinduction.

Sick Leave isconditional to the terms as set out in the Sidley Medical Practice EmployeeHandbook Issue 12 of May 2024.

Annual Leave is 5 weeks pro rata of 36 hours aweek being 180 hours in a complete holiday year (January December).
